Starting Strength is a great book for learning how to do the key lifts, as well as a great resource for some of the big questions around barbell training. It covers why you should strength train, why the key lifts are important, why full squats are not dangerous and why they are better than partial squats, how adaptation occurs, and why you probably won’t get injured if you do the lifts properly.
